Experience

Mr. Smith has been a lawyer and entrepreneur for more than 20 years during which he has developed a well deserved reputation for skillfulness, creativity, diligence and integrity. He has founded and served as an officer and director for several companies and understands the business and common sense needs of his clients. Mr. Smith has extensive experience negotiating and preparing commercial agreements for technology companies such as distribution agreements, license agreements, reseller agreements, employment agreements, operating agreements, non-disclosure agreements, sales representation agreements, commercial leases and private equity placements. He also represents clients involved in international trade with such issues as letters of credit, customs and shipping.

With respect to estate planning law, he will work with you to develop an estate plan that will safely leverage the maximum benefits of pertinent laws. By utilizing various trusts, wills and/or other instruments, Mr. Smith will arrange for the conservation, investment, use, management and transfer of your assets during lifetime and after death.

Mr. Smith also represents policyholders in disputes with their insurance companies. [See representative insurance cases] He has represented entities and individuals in coverage cases arising from virtually all types of insurance policies including Commercial General Liability, Errors and Omissions, Directors & Officers, Homeowners, Automobile, Fire, Life, Health, Disability, Employee Dishonesty, Surety Bonds, Property Damage, Advertising Injury, Construction, Environmental and Product Liability.

Mr. Smith is admitted to the State Bar of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
