Durable Powers of Attorney

There are two broad categories of powers of attorney: durable power of attorney for health care and durable power of attorney for property management.  A durable power of attorney is a simple and inexpensive written document created when you have the capacity to execute a legal document which authorizes a person (agent or attorney in fact) to make decisions on your behalf, usually in the future when you are unable to due to physical or mental incapacity.  Typical estate plans include both types and spouses often appoint one another as their agent.  The powers of attorney may be revoked or amended at any time you have the capacity to enter into legal contracts.
