Management of Assets Given to Minors
There are a few estate planning tools that can provide management of assets you give to minors:
§ Revocable Living Trust: This tool will allow you to manage a minor's assets as the trustee of a trust, have a professional manage them or have a trusted friend do it;
§ Generation Skipping Transfer Trust: This tool can be part of a revocable living trust or a stand alone trust that allows you to manage assets that you transfer to a grandchild during your life or after death;
§ Special Needs Trust: This tool allows you to give assets to a trust for the benefit of a disabled minor in a manner that will not affect the minor's right to receive government benefits. The trust may be managed by you, a professional trustee or a trusted friend.
